1 Day Canyon Float on the Rio Grande

Service Description

Come explore the canyons of the Rio Grande by raft, canoe, or kayak. This scenic float immerses you deep in the Chihuahuan Desert on the border of Texas and Mexico. We will meet at our office on Hwy 118 in Terlingua at 9 a.m. We are North of the junction of Hwy 118 and Hwy 170 (towards Alpine 3 blocks, between Big Bend Church and Bee Mountain Hardware Store). Other meet up locations are optional according to where you are staying. We drive in vans to the Rio Grande. Once at the river we will do a safety talk and orientation to paddling. Then we will float for several miles, stop and have lunch, then continue floating. Wear shoes that you are comfortable getting wet, and dress in layers as the days start off cool and warm up quick. You bring a lunch, snacks, and a water bottle. We will provide a cooler to pack the lunches in and have plenty of water to refill your water bottle. Other beverages are allowed, non-alcoholic, as long as they are in cans. We provide a dry-bag for you to use to keep your camera and other things dry. Throughout the day we will be happy to talk about the cultural history of the area, plants, and geology if you are interested. We typically return to Terlingua around 3:30-4:00 p.m. Price includes all fees. The river trips may vary according the the level of the river. Please see the website for all available options.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your reservation, there is a non refundable 3% credit card fee and $25 booking fee. Free cancellation up until 30 days before the trip, 25% refund up until a week before the trip, within a week there is no refund. Make sure to arrive by 9 am, as we will nit be able to hold up the trip after 9:15. If you miss the trip there is not one later in the day. Call us if you are running late.
