Have you been to Big Bend and wanted to explore more across the border? Cross the Rio Grande at the Boquillas Port of Entry, then drive the dirt roads to Las Norias, Jaboncillas, or San Vicente. The local guides will cook for you, take you hiking and exploring, while you enjoy camping in the mountains. 3 Day Las Norias- Basecamp at the old Puerto Rico Mine, and hike around the base of El Pico.

3 Day Jaboncillas- Basecamp at the entrance to Canon de Media Luna, and hike the canyon and explore a Native American Cave

3 Day San Vicente- Basecamp at the base of San Vicente mountain, and hike to the top and explore the old mine of the Spaniards

Just Beyond the Border

Boquillas del Carmen is a village on the banks of the Rio Grande in the Mexican state of Coahuila. 
To start the trip to Boquillas you must ride across the Rio Grande in a row boat. From there it is a short walk into town or you can ride a burro or truck. This solar-powered village has a couple restaurants, a bar, a catholic church, school, and small hotel.
It does not take long to get a sense of community among the locals as they are remote in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico.

Basic Itinerary:

9:00 a.m. Meet  in Terlingua, TX or Rio Grande Village in Big Bend National Park 

10:00 a.m. Optional hike into Boquillas, Canyon (1.4 miles, round trip)

11:00 Arrive at the Boquillas Border Crossing

11:15 a.m. Cross into Mexico via a ferry boat ride. 

11:45 a.m. Arrive and explore  the village of Boquillas, Mexico

12:15-1:00 p.m. Eat lunch at the Falcon's Restaurant, overlooking the Rio Grande

1:00-2:00 p.m. Shop in the  village of Boquillas

2:00-3:00 p.m. Cross the border back to the United States- customs and immigrations

3:00-4:00 p.m. Return to Terlingua or Rio Grande Village
